In the field of metallurgical study, microstructures of specifically nanosized measures are of utmost importance and interest. Due to their unique properties, the seemingly unreachable goal of divulging such minute feature proved to be as elusive as it can get for the last three (3) decades or so. Way before the advent of operational ease and comfort that metallurgical microscopists experience at the present day, fabrication techniques to fully view the metal’s microstructures just come in two-dimensional forms. Metallurgists then resort to electron-beam and focused-ion-beam methods of microscopy which too were both deemed insufficient for a metallographic technique. As such, microscopic studies conducted by metallurgical specialists on metal’s microstructures is just but inferior and substandard in data depth and information bulk. (more…)

Talking about molten metal this time, metallurgical experts, who work on the thermal implications and activities of metal microstructures, found out on their microscopic studies that heat, when applied to metallic atoms, flows from hot to cold pattern always. In addition to that, a battery of molecular studies using high-powered microscopes revealed that warm atoms tend to move faster than the cold ones. Consequently, those restless atoms act in such a way that they continuously bumped and hit each other, thereby causing them to move and diffuse rapidly. Furthermore, metallurgical scientists found out that a conclusive fact should come into a generalization that the warmer the metal is, the faster the composite atoms of that said metal should be.
